Clonaslee Vocational School (opened in 1937) offers the most up to date facilities to its students, including specialist rooms in Science, Home Economics, Construction Studies, Engineering & Technical Graphics. The fully networked IT room provides students with the latest software based training. The school library contains an extensive range of books for reference and wider reading. Other specialist rooms include Learning Support and Careers Guidance office.

Mission Statement:

Curriculum Offered:

Junior Certificate, Leaving Certificate, Transition Year

Extra Curricular Activities:

Students are timetabled for games for 2 class periods per week from the following range of sports: Basketball, Football, Hurling, Soccer, Athletics, Table Tennis, Indoor Soccer, Swimming, Table Quiz, Martial Arts / Self Defence, Modern Dance. We also provide a supervised 5km walk in the Slieve Bloom Environmental Park.

      
        
Achievements:
Academic - Our students perform exceptionally well in State Exams with over 60% (on average) attending 3rd Level Colleges. In the past, a student has achieved a first place in Ireland in the Leaving Certificate and past pupils have also been awarded University Scholarships.

Our School Magazine “The Student’s Voice” is published 3 times a year by the TY Class.
      
Form & Fusion Competition to design a costume from recycled materials – the Transition Year class always take part in this competition
      
      
Gaisce Presidents’ Awards: Students are encouraged to aim to achieve this award
      
      
History Trips - TY Local history trip to Aghaboe Abbey, Grantstown Lake, and Donaghmore Workhouse & Agricultural Museum. Trip to Strokestown House and Famine Museum.
      
Careers Guidance trips are organised to Higher Options Conference, Open Days in UL, LIT, and Engineering Seminar in Carlow. Speakers from colleges visit the school- NUI Maynooth, Galway, Access Programme in UL, Carlow & Athlone IT, DIT & DCU. We have an Active Learning Support Programme which ensures that educational needs of students are provided on an individual basis right up to Leaving Certificate. Students also avail of Access Programmes in DCU & DIT.
